Recently, a boutique of Bologna hosted the traveling exhibition devoted to a grant that has as many as 64 years, and is one of the icons of Gucci Maison. You will surely understand that I am speaking of the legendary Bamboo Gucci which devotes an event: Bamboo Forever which traces the history of this model loved by princesses and celebrities.
Perhaps not everyone knows or remembers the history of this bag. Let's find out together. The Bamboo was founded in 1947 Gucci inventiveness of the craftsmen who during the war were seeking an answer to the shortage of raw materials. The bamboo was a material that could be easily imported from Japan, and that's worked in the distinctive curved shape and "U" is attached to bag with metal rings to create an accessory that has become a piece of Gucci history.
Since then, the bamboo has been used in other products as a detail of the Maison. Frida Giannini has also reinvented the original bag in a modern version, the New Bamboo. At the exhibition you can see historic photographs of celebrities such as Vanessa Redgrave and Ingrid Bergman wear that, or the history of the bag through advertising.
A video shows the evolution of the model over the years with a focus on the manufacturing steps which are still followed by the workshops of the Maison. "Bamboo Forever" will travel throughout Europe with a stop in Verona, Monaco and Saint Moritz.
