So many new green from Benetton in Gucci

At first they were few: Vivienne Westwood at the forefront, Stella McCartney for his struggles and some other animal rights activists who launched sporadic initiatives. Then the fashion world has noticed that echo does not necessarily mean hemp and beads and almost everyone, from low cost brands to the super luxury groups have begun to apply specific strategies eco-green, making a virtue of necessity through collections ethical and sustainable production.

Just yesterday the group PPR (the holding company that includes among others, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga) announced in a press conference that his 2011 will be dedicated to ecology and that this will lead to a revolution in each brand: "We want to transform our economic model of sustainable development thinking as a value," said President François-Henri Pinault.

To put these good intentions, the group requested the cooperation of the founders of the Cradle-to-Cradle certification and has allocated an amount of € 10 thousand to completely rethink the way we produce and launch a program for offsetting CO2 emissions. Interesting news, though the holding was not new to green initiatives: the pack of Puma and Gucci introduced last year had a concrete example of the willingness to make a change in echo, as well as the documentary Home launched under the sponsorship of PPR in June 2009.

Eco-news also came from Italian groups: Benetton, for example, has launched various initiatives to a sustainable business. Since January, in line with the directive of the European Community that provides for the elimination of plastic bags, stores are equipped with eco-friendly paper bags (from paper mills that use wood from certified managed forests) and decorated with inks Water-based.

Not only that, this year all the clothes will be gradually replaced by wooden ones, liquid, 100% biodegradable and recyclable, developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institut Chemische Technologie. New Patrizia Pepe also green, which has launched a collection in organic cotton that is grown in plantations where pesticides are used.

The prints are vintage el'allure is romantic: every head (comprising t-shirt, shorts and vests) is bundled with a pouch containing lavender scented. And even those are T-shirts and canottine Line No Ego, Eco Yes Who * s Who, made with natural fibers and dyed with an innovative technique that uses fruit concentrate.
