Jimmy Choo, the Malaysian brand of fashion designer based in London made famous by Sex & the City, which produces the most popular footwear in the world, was recently acquired by the Austrian group Labelux. The Jimmy Choo brand, which in 1996 divided society with Tamara Mellon will belong to other brands such as Bally, Zagliani and Derek Lam.
Mieck Reinhard, CEO of Labelux commented, a purchase that cost the Austrian group whopping 500 million pounds but hopefully rewarded with good prospects for a brand that is increasingly in vogue. In 2010, Jimmy Choo stores has doubled (from 60 in 2007 to 120) and sales rose 10% in all geographic areas in which the mark is present.
